Trust is not hard and it is not easy either. But big things couldn’t be done by a person or a hand. It takes teamwork and trust to build big things in life no matter in what field. This work shows all the five TIGER values at work. For example, when working in a group, it is not easy to trust, but without trusting one another, it will be difficult to proceed and succeed. Integrity plays an important part when dealing with one another because when people have integrity they are honest and you can trust them. Efficiency is an act of building trust and giving service to people in a competent way. As for growth and relationship building, after all the ups and downs and building beneficial partnerships, when everybody upholds the five values, things will automatically be smooth and gainful.

As tigers are commonly pictured to be fierce, fiery and competitive creatures in the eyes of human, I thought to create an artwork that emphasizes more on their leisure characteristics in their own natural habitat.

TIGERLAND is portrayed as a world of tigers. It is illustrated in the form of a tiger with all their practiced values linked together in a natural environment. It is to highly encourage our tigers to be freed from all sorts of harm and danger that causes them to be part of the endangered species. To relate with the theme given, the colorful striking warrior tiger head represents EXCELLENCE AND EFFICIENCY built by the tigers under the highlight of Maybank’s legacy in the long run. Tiger cubs signify GROWTH as they are seen being creative with the hibiscus plant as accessories which indicates innovation. A couple of tigers resting their heads against each other expresses RELATIONSHIP BUILDING while an ambush of tigers
in the background represents TEAMWORK where they are seen interacting with one another to achieve the same goal. Lastly, the eye of a tiger in the corner of the sky symbolizes INTEGRITY as it serves as the protector of TIGERLAND

Showing teamwork using basic shapes that comes together to form the face of a tiger. Basic shapes are the simplest forms that build and bring almost anything to life. They are also a representation of the various personality of each individuals coming together as one. Tiger was used because they are known to be daring, passionate, and fearless but also calm and emotional on the other side. These traits that they possess are the core to the 5 values that will be uphold in the future. Growth is portrayed using a more organic and freehand-style to show that growth can happen anytime and without any restrictions or limitation in any way. At times it could be free but at times it could be rigid. A growth that is small is still growth and hence should be reflected regardless. Growth is also never linear as seen from the waves where there will always be ups and downs, this is how everything is balanced out.

Undeniably, human activities have been one of the principal factors in putting the numbers of various wildlife at risk. Since the mid of the last century, there have been increasing efforts by international organizations to protect the animals and raise awareness for wildlife preservation and conservation. As a tribute to reason above, my artwork aims to raise public awareness on the importance of protecting natural habitats of wildlife.

The illustration is named “V R The World”, as a reference to the 80’s charity single “We Are the World” written to fundraise for famine relief in Africa. It shows numerous types of animals working collaboratively by using virtual reality painting to reproduce their ideal environment that is vanishing in the actual world. With this, I wish to remind people about the importance of natural environment to our wildlife, as well as a metaphor to how relationship building and teamwork should be practiced by us all to rebuild hope and restore the world’s nature, starting from you and me.

unknown possibilities. The first three panels show how the young girl is initially scared to approach others but after plucking up her courage to make new friends, she realises how much she has grown because of them. Everyone she meets takes her on a new adventure of life. It might be sad, happy or stressful, but all of it makes her strong. The fourth panel shows houses and people in the clouds representing the people she has met growing up. The friend who is riding the tiger with her is the person who first opened the door for her to see another world.

Trust is not hard and it is not easy as well. Like in this comic showing how big things couldn’t be done by one hand it provides teamwork and trusts to achieve and overcome big things in life no matter in what area. My comic consisted all five “TIGER” values. Best example is when working in a group, it is not easy especially trust, without trusting one another it will caused disagreements which led to failed achievement. Besides, integrity plays an important part because it consisted the value of honesty between people when dealing something together. Moreover, efficiency is the act of showing commitment and service to other people to let them know they got your words. And last it goes to growth and relationship building value, after all the ups and downs, building firm beneficial partnerships, and when each person always carry those five values, things will automatically be smooth and successful at the end.

The work is designed to show gratitude and appreciation to Malaysian Emergency Service workers. They work through the hour’s others would not and through the toughest of conditions, especially during the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus. It will bring awareness to the public so that they commemorate the lesson of this epidemic, if there is such a virus in the future everyone will have the knowledge to carry out self-protection measures. We deeply appreciate their hard work, putting the needs of others first before their own.

The design meets two of the core principles that represents My Tiger Values. The principles are Teamwork and relationship Building. Teamwork is vital when working in the emergency service and this also goes hand to hand with Relationship building. With these principles, it boosts moral individually and as a collective allowing the emergency service to run efficiently.

The story starts with three wolves were chasing a tiger cub. The tiger cub stopped in front of a big tree because there was no way to run and the three wolves caught up 95the tiger cub. The tiger cub is afraid and covered its eyes with its paws. Suddenly, an adult tiger stood in front of the tiger cub and protected the tiger cub. It scared away the wolves. The tiger cub felt thankful and admired the adult tiger.

The tiger cub symbolize the children, adult tiger symbolize adults and the wolves symbolize the problems and hazards in the world. Children are still young and can’t protect themselves and solve some problems by themselves and might get themselves gone astray. Adults help and guide the children to the right path with their professional knowledge and making a better future for the children.

Police, medical staff, office workers and others from every industries are doing their best but they will also feel tired and miserable sometimes. The title for this comic, “stay strong, tiger” is not only the adults said to the children but also the children said to the adults.

The biggest threat to the Malay Tigers comes from the illegal wildlife trade, centuries of unlawful hunting has caused this species to be killed in large numbers.

In this artwork, a big tiger entrusts its two children to a boy. Due to illegal hunting of tigers by "humans," the back of the big tiger was already covered with scratches and also was trapped in a hunter's trap. However, the big tiger still entrusts its two children to a "human." In order to present the meaning of International Tiger Day, the two miniature tigers in the illustration are represented Tx2 (WWF's global tiger program - double the number of tigers) and the HOPE of the tiger.

A kind boy helped the tiger to bandage the wound, so the tiger regarded the boy as a trustworthy human, representing that the relationship between tiger and human is built on mutual trust, to bring out the value of MyTiger - relationship building.

Recently, a large number of animals that once thrived on our planet disappeared at a heart-breaking rate. If we wish to continue to the ecology for our next generation, people should protect the tigers from being a kind of endangered species more carefully.

I want to illustrate the Tiger Values through a comic style. The first panel shows that those Tigers shout out “TEAMWORK!” which is showing the spirit of togetherness is the main reason for every success in anything. Next, those Tigers are standing straight which shows a full of integrity and look professional that no any circumstances can stop them from reaching success. Furthermore, the Tiger in Black shows we should become an excellent and a great role model that inspires others to be the best version of themselves. Moreover, the bodybuilder represents that there will be in times of darkness and hardships with full of pain which we must push forward until we reach our goals. Growth cannot be developed without pain. Last but not least, two gentle-tigers shake hands represents we must have a healthy relationship with others that will lead to a positive outcome and life would be more meaningful.

In my artwork, I love using flower to symbolize something because each flower has their own meaning. In this particular artwork where we have to portray the TIGER values in it, I decided to use five different flower to portray each values. Accompanied by the flowers are the human itself portrayed in a specific situation where the values can clearly be seen and understand. For teamwork, I decided to use Gladiolus flower which mean strength. The reason why I use teenager to represent teamwork is because in teen is the age where we will start to learn about working in a group and as we all know that working together is better than working alone in term of strength. As for integrity, the flower that I chose was Ornithogalum which means honesty and decided to put them together with young adult. The flower that can be seen with the baby is Protea flower that portrays growth or transformation. I chose Hippeastrum flower to symbolize excellence and efficiency. The real meaning behind this flower are determination which is why I place it together with adult. Lastly, the toddler are representing relationship building and the flower that I use is Alstroemeria which means friendship.

To Be A Tree

A sapling so small and weak, needs water, sunlight and nutrients to reach its full potential, much like me when I was young, loved and nurtured by my parents. Each season, as I grew so did that little sapling given to me as a gift. And as I took care of it, I watched it
slowly unfurl, expand and develop more and more branches. With a heavy heart, I had to prune and shape it to prevent its unruliness from causing harm, and in the process thought me about discipline, structure and perseverance. With each calculated prune and snip, it shaped and transformed the growing young tree into a huge majestic tree.

You see, like the tree, I was also nurtured and disciplined. It is only through this process of growth would it reach its full potential and become something that is of worth. In life, people will face many struggles and we must learn to prune them if we must. Only with time, will we heal and soon we all will grow into awe-inspiring people.

She is scared and doesn’t know what to do, but all of a sudden she felt a strength growing from within to her hand. “Zappp!” The torch turns into a magic wand and she uses it to turn the vicious snake friendly! She continues to sleep soundly with her toys, especially the favourite bear given by her parents, as they quietly open the door to check on their sweetheart.

This story was inspired by how my parents would still always come to check on me after a long day of work even till this day. I could somehow always feel their presence that makes me feel safe and secured, even in my sleep. Our parents may not always be physically with us, but in the challenging journey of parenting, they too learn something new about relationship building, while paving our path with love, guidance and protection for us to grow gracefully. This is a tribute to my parents, but I also hope it serves as an encouragement for us to appreciate all the sacrifices that our parents have made.

As we all know that the number of Malayan Tigers are getting more lesser and classified as “Critically Endangered Species”. There are only about 200 left in Malaysia . They are so beautiful creatures, but how could people have the heart to kill such a beautiful animal like this, selling their skins and slaughtering them with no mercy. People should understand that these animals have their rights to live in this world and they are not our enemies. Human always tend to fear of tiger just because of some reasons but the real truth is Tigers are actually are afraid of human, they have many reasons because people like the poachers have killed them in near extinction. This must be stop all the killings and hauntings. We should love them, build our strong relationships and give support for these Malayan Tigers. They Deserve Love and Happiness not only for human but for these Malayan Tigers too and all the living beings out there.

As a national icon, the Malayan Tiger, symbolising courage and strength, has bestowed upon Malaysians with the spirit and willpower to make remarkable progress. From the beginning of the Melaka Sultanate to the world’s tallest twin towers, we bravely leap through the ages. The three panels are designed to have different buildings that represent the different eras, while the tiger is outside the panels, leaping forward, breaking all limitations and boundaries to thrive and prosper. The youths, the future of our nation, run along the path of the spirited Malayan Tiger who gallantly leads the way.

She doesn’t believe her eyes, she has encountered her greatest fear. She trembles as the snake crawls around her.

Reminiscence

My comic strips portray the TIGER Values in the form of the life of a tiger. The old tiger reminiscences his good old memory while looking at the picture in front of him, and suddenly some old memories flash through his eyes. Ever since he was young, he has always developed a passion for running. Eventually, growing up, he keeps pursuing his dream and strives to deliver an outstanding performance whenever he could. Growing up, his ultimate goal is to win. He believes him winning in something that his passionate about was what made him a real winner of all. Until something triggered in him when he saw his opponent fells while in competition and at that moment, he realised that winning in life was no longer about him only-nor the selfishness. Perhaps winning came in the form of teamwork-helping each other. Together with his opponent-the bear, they get to the finish line. Maybe it’s all happened a few years ago, but it was the memory, the helping hands, and the relationship that made it stays up until the present.

S for 'Strategy'. Any type of work needs to have a strategy to make sure it stays on the right track. Especially in a group work, the element of SUPPORT among members is the ultimate key to achieving best results

(The advantages of the letter 'S')
-- Strategy: A team has to plan carefully before making a move.

-- Support: In a team, members need to help each other when solving problems. In the end, everyone gets to learn something.

-- Success: To achieve success, one has to overcome the obstacles. In this game, it's the snake and ladder
.
(Weakness and Mistakes)

-- Ladder: A shortcut in avoiding workload. It does not follow the principles of tiger values. It puts more work onto other team members.

-- Snake: If one does not practice one of the Tiger Values principles, it may wreck the whole project, which results in restarting the whole project again.

* I applied the snakes and ladders game concept to give the create a competition kind of vibe.

The illustration is heavily influenced by nature with the colors in this artwork that create the sense of tropical wildlife. The usage of green color in this illustration shows the color of life in nature while on the other hand the orange color is the symbol of strength and endurance of the tiger’s group. The tiger’s position towards the cubs is a symbol of love and caring to the whole generation in their habitat. It brings growth in this group in being together for the future. The tails of the tigers overlapping and seems to create knots to each other indicates the sense of unity, a really great
bonding relationship and trust to each other. The spirit of the tiger brings courage, willpower and personal strength. When they are together, they can create a great teamwork in doing any particular task. Lastly, the group of tiger resembles a tiger lily flower which has six petals that are associated with wealth and pride. Because of the vibrant colors of the flowers, it is believed to symbolize positivity and confidence. It is an inspiration to create this illustration.

The metaphoric similarity can be seen on the synergy of ants. From the ants, we can see ants work as a group in the colony and how unify they are. Team effort reflects in overall effectiveness while tapping on each others strength. Teamwork is like a set of gears, that rely on one another. I am trying to apply the Psychedelic Art’s concept. The combination of two faces shows that there is a ‘tiger’ inside every human. The ‘tiger’ that I meant here is the core tiger value which means that everybody has these values inside their personalities and that is the reason why I named my artwork ‘The Persona’. Three gears at the top are to symbolize Teamwork value. When one gear start moving, the other attached gear will also move to generate power. Same goes with teamwork when everybody works together, they will success to achieve their target in life, and that is ‘power’ in this metaphor. Two hands with creeping root symbolize Growth value as they are trying to fix the gears contain building symbolize the national development and the other one with flying birds which means peace. The Tengkolok and Jawi font represent Malay culture in this artwork. I put the heartbeat rate line to symbolize life. The rest of other small human figures also represent teamwork value as they are struggling to put the big star and moon onto the Tengkolok. It shows that even they are small, they can do something big if they work together.

A sapling is so small and fragile, needs water, sunlight and nutrients to grow into a tree. Much like me when I was young and growing up, needing love and care from my parents. As time passed, I grew taller and so did that little sapling given to me as a gift. And as I took care of it, I watched it slowly unfurl, expand and grow more branches. With a heavy heart, I had to prune it to prevent it from unruliness and causing harm. This taught me about discipline and structure. With each pruning and snipping, the young tree grew bigger and stronger and turned into a huge majestic tree. Like I was nurtured and disciplined, the tree was also nurtured and trimmed. It is only through this process of growth would it reach its full potential and become worthy and beautiful. In life, there are likely to be obstacles and overgrowth, but we must learn to prune them. The artwork displays a loving family of tigers. Usually depicted as fierce and lively, here they are shown resting and conserving their energy for future ventures.

Each colour used is built on the spiritual meanings of the tiger. Red as great passion and energy, blue is the determination and the conservation of energy, yellow shows magnificence and orange expresses enthusiasm.

Even as we and our country progress, sometimes it is important to slow down, rest, and enjoy life with your loved ones.

“Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success”, says Henry Ford. This proverb can very well highlight the importance of working together in order to achieve a goal. When we operate as a team, just like building Lego bricks. You come up with an idea in your head, then you begin to piece it together with your friends or family to pursue your own vision. It wouldn’t work out without a team with the same vision.

Based on figure above, you can see that we try to present items in a simple way, such as backgrounds, characters, hot pots, and other. Moreover, we also added different colours to distinguish various ethnic groups, such as Malay (green), Chinese (red), Indian (purple), and Aborigines (black). The selection of ingredients in the boiling pot is also based on the application of the above colours. We give separate actions to each character to create a sense of cooperation. Furthermore, we also applied a two-point perspective to express the hard work of the personalities through near and far vision.

To put it in a nutshell, we all do our best to complete this assignment. Although we encountered unexpected situations like lockdown which caused communication problems. But we still follow the steps gradually to accomplish the process.

This is a scene where a fellowship had an encounter with an evil skeleton dragon and its armies. The fellowship consists of a valiant tiger, a cunning fox and an intelligent monkey which represent specific role as Knight, Rogue and Wizard respectively. Can they defeat the wicked creatures with the power of teamwork and synergy?

I would like to convey the value of teamwork through this Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) themed cartoon. D&D emphasize on one's specialty or role as their strength and can cooperate with other members to achieve goals in their journey. Everybody is born with different strengths and weaknesses. We must appreciate the variety and achieve our goals as one.

Life is like a maze, every decision made may lead to a different ending. It is complex, and we live without truly knowing where it may lead us to. Life is like a tree, it starts from the root and we try to grow it into a beautiful tree. In the process, we come across life decisions, paths and crossroads like the branches waiting for us to explore.

That is the story of the artwork, a maze path that forms the shape of a tree, representing a person’s growth. Take a closer look at the artwork, you will see many different hidden objects such as bottle of coins, result paper, graduation cap and scroll, house, family members, etc. Similar to a human life, there are many hidden treasures within us to unearth.

Whenever I felt discomfort or stress during childhood, my mom would make me sit next to her and rub Tiger Balm to soothe my worries. During those times she would talkto me – stories about everything and anything. To me, those are intimate memories that contributed to building a good relationship with her and served as pillars in building other good future relationships. The balm serving as a constant reminder.

Now, many people have been experiencing stress from many factors. I have grown older and my mom may have stopped rubbing Tiger Balm, but the Balm still exists. Through people who serve the people, through a ride regardless of time, through a text message from a close friend you miss. Even with obstacles, we will always find ways to build and maintain relationships, a testament to how important the value is for creating a better future, as it seemingly gets overlooked.

Through my artwork, the Balm serves as a symbol of building relationships and comfort. I hope that you have your Balm.

Tiger Dance
Leong Yi Lin
New Era University College, Kajang

Tiger dance existed many years ago and it has become a symbol of health, energy and prosperity. Malayan tigers on the other hand symbolize bravery, strength and grandeur and it has always been closely associated with our country Malaysia. Sadly, both the folk dance and animal face the danger of being extinct as times have changed.

This art piece is done with inspiration from the Chinese film 大日子(The Big Day!) and the ambitious goal that is TX2 (doubling the number of tigers by year 2022). The art piece consists of warm colours expanded from orange and black, depicting two tigers performing to an audience with a lively and energetic atmosphere. I hope the result of the goal would end in a similar atmosphere as well, and that is, a success worth celebrating.

I was confident with my English-speaking skills so when I was told that I placed last for the English speech competition, my heart sank. It took me a while to get over this failure and realize that the failure meant that I still had room for growth. After the experience, I practiced twice as hard and strive to improve myself.

In 2016, one year after the failure, I once again stood on the stage. However, it was different at that time. After all the sweat input into practice, not only I was the champion in the English speech competition, but also the champion in the Chinese and Malay speech competition. The moment of me holding the trophies is still clear in my mind until today.

There are so many things that can be done at home especially during this free time for example, during this MCO. Spot The Leader
Low Sze Min
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai

Misconceptions between leaders and followers. Corporate, national or societal leaders need to understand that their power is only as strong as their followers. Followers are often dismissed as an amorphous group of people who are bred to follow blindly off their leaders’ orders, whilst leaders are perceived as the only individuals who uphold the T.I.G.E.R. (teamwork, integrity, growth, excellence/ efficiency and relationship building) values, hence more qualified to lead. This notion is a misconception that has been imbued in us in our educational Universitys, in our corporate work life and in everyday mass media. In reality, everyone should uphold these T.I.G.E.R. values be it leaders or followers as followers play a vital role in placing their judgments appropriately to identify a leader’s credibility. Whilst followers do lack in authority, they do not lack in power and influence because they get to actively decide which leader to throw their weight behind. ‘Spot the leader’ is meant to challenge this notion that leaders are distinctive or one-in-a-million. Its core message is that everyone has a different character, each equally important in playing their roles as a leader or follower.

My comic strips portray the TIGER Values in the form of the life of a tiger. The old tiger reminiscences his good old memory while looking at the picture in front of him, and suddenly some old memories flash through his eyes. Ever since he was young, he has
always developed a passion for running.

The person with disabilities who is wearing old clothes, he is sitting and talking with the volunteer. In the image, he was lost his right leg and holding a wooden crutch. The reason why the house is a tomato is a cheap vegetable so that we can understand that the owner is poor. Besides, there have some scraps around the house. Tiger is a very endangered species. Every year about 3,000 tigers die just because of poachers and loss of food. The graph of the population has dropped to only 3,500. So I crafted an illustration with the words — “TIGER” where inspired by myself. I’m a short-sighted person so it reminds me of the Visual Acuity Testing at the eye specialist center. As we all know, the vision of a short-sighted person will be getting weaker and weaker. So does the population of the tiger if we didn't work together and take care of them. We have to work together as a team to prevent the tiger extinct, and they need to be seen.

The TIGERs in the artwork symbolize the spirit of these different aspects. It represents the teamwork between the frontline staff, the outstanding performance of their service, and constant
improvement in medical and control orders. One person may not be able to do much, but the strength of many people can exceed our imagination. Also, the WHITE color soul represents their integrity performance in their job. The frontline staffs in the artworks symbolize the spirit of the TIGER. The courage of they stood in the front lines to protect the health and safety of the people of Malaysia during these extraordinary times. And a willingness to cooperate and sacrifice.

Even though there is a crisis at the moment, they are still in the midst of it, and the mutual understanding and cooperation between the people and the frontline personnel are very touching. Meanwhile, their professional and superb performance is truly admirable. These heroes have proved to us their noble dedication and growing performance. If we carry on in this condition, I believe we shall win the battle in the end.

Together we can build a better tomorrow. We can start by saving our national pride, Harimau Malaya. The pixelated tiger represents the uncertain future for the tiger if we don’t take care of our flora and fauna. Imagine the world with the tigers gone. The next generation won’t be able to see a real tiger, they will only see an image of one. The Instagram post box holds a tiger in a picture made up of digital pixels. Glorious, majestic and brave are words that describe the Malayan Tiger, the very same qualities needed to steer Malaysia to a greater future. We must commit ourselves to prevent the extinction of the tiger. When a species becomes extinct, it leaves behind a void which affects the entire ecosystem in incalculable ways, which ultimately poses a threat to our own survival. When we save the Malayan Tiger, it’s more than our pride that we are saving.

From the ground up, 3 figures from our country's 3 major races (Malay, Chinese & Indian) represent teamwork, as we rise by lifting each other up. Their clothing are colors of our Jalur Gemilang, as together, we are Malaysia. The transparent globe represents Integrity, showing that the secret to success is the simple TIGER values that we uphold. Growth is illustrated as a big strong tree, ever so vital and fruitful, with roots making up a strong foundation. Excellence is shown as a gold flag on a cloud, as that's how high we aim to achieve. Lastly, a ladder towards the clouds symbolizes us building relationships. Together, the sky is truly the limit.

Tiger sits relaxed and Free, out in the nature as it should be. Unbounded and unlimited, we can do achieve things unimaginable. Happy Global Tiger Day!

This artwork is focused on the theme of ‘Growth’. Growth, I feel is an amazing thing to look back at when going through hard times because our views can be so clouded that we forget how many steps we had to take to get to where we are. I wanted this piece to show how sometimes we may only focus on seeing ourselves reach for the top but essentially it is the journey that moulds us into who we end up becoming. The symbolism here is used with plants, a ladder and a vanity mirror. The vanity mirror at the top reflects a hand reaching for the sky, towards higher goals but it is also a PAUSE to reflect on the journey that we’ve been on. The ladder is a depiction of us stepping towards our goals to growth, we can only go higher and the plants that surround it are visual imagery of “growth”, sometimes we look at where other people are at and compare them to ourselves but the only journey we should focus on is our own

There is a Chinese proverb that says that the lotus will produce the most beautiful flower, even when its roots are in the dirtiest waters. It means that everyone has the potential to see the light and rise unsullied from the mud. This work illustrates the idea of 'Integrity'. The lotus symbolises purity or rebirth. The tiger, representing man, is walking away from the dirty water. No matter what the circumstances are or where one comes from, one can always choose to hold one’s head high. It may not be easy for a person to maintain strong ethical principles in today’s world, where greed and cunning seems to hold sway. But there are tigers hidden in the muddy lotus pond. It is a reminder that no matter how difficult or rough a situation is, one can still keep a righteous heart. One can still opt to stand upright and be principled regardless of the environment or circumstances.

I believe every person has its own unique personality, attitude, character and values they won’t be the second “you” in this world. Same goes to these five tigers here portraying their own uniqueness of values not by appearance but rather , true values comes from kindness, generosity, patience, honesty, compassion, and many other qualities that show in one's actions and words more than one's appearance. “TIGER” values are one of the best example to pick up from and change ourselves to be a better person, it is absolutely important to bring all these five values inside of us as we are growing up and continuing walking on our journey. The volunteer would like to understand more about his difficult life so they can help him in the future. Between the volunteer and the person with disabilities, there has a tiger is sitting and listening to their conversation.

The Greatest Power is the Teamwork Collaboration
Tan Khai Teck
University Sains Malaysia, Penang

Teamwork is the collaborative effort of a group to achieve a common goal or to complete a task in the most effective and efficient way. In a teamwork environment, people understand and believe that thinking, planning, decisions and actions are better when done cooperatively. A successful team contains a spirit of cooperation. All members need to work together to achieve the specific goal. This can be difficult, especially if some members possess strong personalities or are highly opinionated. Successful teams tend to have strong leaders who can keep everybody on the same page while keeping the petty bickering to a minimum. A strong leader isn't the same thing as being a star player who works better alone. Instead, he takes the lead, making sure everyone is on board with the goal and everyone knows their role and next steps. On that day, it was a heavy rain, if without a INTERGRITY leader to lead the team to cover up the set up stuff by hand-made works for several months in a row, without a good teamwork, how can successfully held the big event (USM, penang Mid-Autumn Festival 2019).

Together we can build a better tomorrow by saving our national pride, Harimau Malaya. The pixelated tiger represents the unknown future for the tiger if we don’t care of our flora and fauna.

Imagine if the next generation won’t be able to see real Malayan tiger, they will only see it in pictures. This is what the picture represent. The Instagram post box is representing a tiger in a picture that are made up by pixel.

Glory, majestic and brave are among words that describe our Malayan Tiger. It is also the characteristic of leadership to bring Malaysia for a greater future together.

Essential for us to commit and working together to avoid extension of Malayan tiger as the tiger itself is said symbolized courage and strength. When species goes extension, it leaves behind a scar, which also affects the entire ecosystem. Stop poaching, illegal wildlife trade and deforestation.

Responsible for us to spread awareness through any media to encourage others to support the efforts being made to save the tigers. All endangered species including Malayan tiger need to be protected before their number of population decrease time to time.

Illustrating the artwork based on the them, teamwork, the human body portrays resemblance of the harmonious team effort. The human body is a marvelous specimen of teamwork . Through teamwork , every organ has it’s own job to do. Together they processed food to give energy, to become the cells , bone and muscle, living, working, thinking, enabling human to work and live the day.

The metaphoric similarity can be seen on the synergy of ants. From the ants, we can see ants work as a group in the colony and how unify they are. Team effort reflects in overall effectiveness while tapping on each others strength. Teamwork is like a set of gears, that rely on one another. Even the small gears are capable to move a huge machine. Just like the human body or a small insects like ants in the nature, the concept of working together to achieve more efficiency or magnitude depends on the synergy of the team .

Rationale: Year 2020, one of the toughest times in human history as COVID-19 pandemic strikes the globe deadlier than we could have prepared. On 18th March 2020, the outbreak forced Malaysia to put almost all activities to a complete halt as we declared a new war plan against this invisible enemy to cut its spread. It is the beginning of a "New Game", in which we play the Pac-man vs ghosts relationship against the coronavirus.

As depicted in the artwork, frontliners namely medical personnels, police, and military forces, HAZMAT teams and essential delivery teams are demonstrating their EXCELLENCE and EFFICIENCY through a continuous effort to keep the country safe. Families adhere to the Movement Control Order and stay safe at home. Education activities carry on by means of online teaching. Prayers are made at home. The whole nation is demonstrating TEAMWORK in these unprecedented times. It is undeniably difficult, but we experience GROWTH in this new normal.

‘A forest of these trees is a spectacle too much for one man to see,’ says botanist David Douglas. Forests are a part of nature and nature is home for many living creatures. When it comes to the air we breathe, there is a reason why rainforests are called the ‘lungs of the planet’. They produce the oxygen necessary for our survival and purify the air that we breathe. But deforestation and destruction is an on-going malady. To me, the beauty of the forest is like the stripes of a tiger. We must strive to protect the forests of the world like we strive to protect the lives of our tigers. Nature and beauty will then last forever.

My artwork is derived from the value of Growth and Relationship Building.

All of us are here today because of the people around us. Whether knowing it or not, we all have impacted one another in many different ways.

The family that raised us, the home we grew up in, friends we made over the years from University, college, workplaces, anywhere on this planet - they formed our mindset, attitude, personality, interests, likes, dislikes, and so on.

Some people stay in our lives for a short period of time, some longer, and some people grow closer to us than others. We build many types of relationships with people in this lifetime which affect us in both trivial and also heavy ways. Some relationships we built may bring discomfort and end up hurting us, these stages of life may be scary and not always comfortable, but the experience is priceless, which is growth.

The relationships we had built in the past, the ones we have now, and those we’re going to build in the future will assuredly take us to new heights as we keep learning from them during this lifetime. Let’s be open to loving people and growing from them!

The Tiger-looking tree, symbolizes the product of growth, whereas the hands that surround the tree are working together to take care of their beloved tree for everyone’s benefits. Why a tiger? Of course, it symbolizes our country of pride, Malaysia.

Throughout the making of this artwork, I learnt the importance of teamwork in the process of growth.

My growth; though I can grow by myself, without the support of friends and teachers, I may be a young tree for a long time and will struggle to spread out my branches.

Lotus In The Mud
Chew Sue Phing
The One Academy of Communication Design, Petaling Jaya

There is a Chinese proverb describing how the lotus will still produce the most beautiful flower, even when its roots are in the dirtiest water. In English, the meaning translates to 'Rising unsullied from the mud'. That is only what inspired me to create this illustration based on the principle of 'Integrity'.

Lotus often symbolizes purity or rebirth. The magnificent tiger, representing humans, walks away from dirty water. It is hoped, that no matter the environment or struggles a person grew up in, they will continue to hold their head up high and maintain their integrity as a person with moral values.

It is not easy for a person to continuously practice and maintain strong ethical principles especially in our current world, where greed often overshadows our capability to make the right decision. In the picture, there are tigers hidden throughout the muddy lotus pond. A reminder - no matter how difficult or roughly a situation is, everyone is capable of maintaining a righteous heart. A wish - that a person can still stand strong and principled regardless of the environment they grew up in.

Like these five tigers here it’s an ongoing values in our daily basis life that we have to carry until we are old no matter where you stay.

Thus, this theme of unity and hope has brought out my hope as Malaysians to see everyone get to live peace and harmony again. For this to happen, everyone should have love and care about each other and the country. Naturally, the peacefulness of a country is depending on relationship of "human-human" nad "human-nature" that is interrelated between external and also spiritually. Therefore, as Malaysians who wants the peacefulness between multiracial and religion, togetherness, caring, loving and heal in the process of dealing with the outbreak the main thing that should be strengthen are building the spiritthe nationalism and bring prosperous to the country.

Therefore, illustration tittled "Stand Together" bringing a metaphor of a handshake with the shape of human head as a symbol for sense of mutual need and strong sense of solidarity among Malaysians. On top of the head are the stairs leading to the sky that is also came out from the head of hands symbolize the way that leads for a chance and opportunity of Malaysians hope. The light that go through the door sky in this illustration is a metaphor of positive hope that should be taken by Malaysians. Next, at the bottom of head of hands shows five branches of roots symbolize the strength of a country and citizens are five national principles. Which in the illustration shows the roots was bonded to soil that surrounded by water, this symbolize the strength of Malaysians is the national principles that being hold and it will not simply being taken away by a problem, like when the big wave that hits, we still stand strong and uplift the nation and homeland.

Thus, looking at the situation of our country facing Covid-19 outbreak, everyone is struggling with stability in life through the economy and new normal. Togetherness and care for each other not only should be practice in the society to go through this outbreak but these traits should be nurtured as all the time preparations to face any kind of threats, problems and tests that may arise regardless of time in any shape or forms. United we stan, divided we fall. When unity, every hope can come true. That is how unity works and the togetherness of a citizen will affect the future a country. So, it is important for the citizen to come together as one to bring Malaysia to a better direction. For that to happen, the values and the togetherness among Malaysians must strongly be shaped in every generation from now on.

The entries of photo imaging works showed a creeping trend from social media. The use of photo collage and digital manipulation was more prevalent than conventional photography. This is a global trend in photo imaging as seen all over the media sphere as social media takes precedence and photography becomes more accessible than ever. But the downside is that it produces watered-down works and jaded themes. Images are often composed in the fashion of generating admiration or ‘likes’ from viewers, rather than being a unique ‘work of art’.

Most of the images and the works are reactionary in nature, instead of being a fresh take. Most opted to be a medium of information rather than a medium for education. Metaphors and symbols were a popular tool in interpreting and explaining the ideas. The decision to display the zeitgeist of the media sphere, however, is a reflection of the state of mind and concerns of today’s youth as well as their main source of inspiration. This trend is a mirror of our times and should be seen as such.

The jury panel have also provided some suggestions for future editions of the competition. These include a collaboration with Zoo Negara on the issue of tigers, a more active and inspiring engagement with contestants and opening the competition to group entries. Categories such as photography and sequential art would benefit greatly from group work as different members can focus different traits and a more focused work could be produced. It could also tie in beautifully with the theme of growth and cooperation. Teamwork or collaboration has been proven to produce great works in current industry practices.

Overall, the entries showed a strong interest among our youths to explore their creativity at the slightest encouragement. Many thanks to Maybank for consistently providing a platform for the youths to demonstrate their talent and creativity, especially in these trying times as the nation gradually recovers from life under the spectre of the pandemic.

The tiger is the largest of the world’s big cats and this magnificent creature, with its distinctive orange and black stripes and beautifully marked face, has a day that is dedicated to it. Global Tiger Day is an annual celebration to raise awareness for tiger conservation, held annually on 29 July. It was created in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit.

The goal of the day is to protect the natural habitats of tigers and to raise public awareness and support tiger conservation issues. This was in response to the shocking news that 97% of all wild tigers had disappeared in the last century, with only around 3,900 left in the wild.

Tigers are on the brink of extinction and Global Tiger Day aims to bring attention to this fact and try to halt their decline. Many factors have caused their numbers to fall, including habitat loss and poaching. Global Tiger Day aims to protect and expand their habitats and raise awareness of the need for conservation. Many international organisations are committed to this day, including the WWF, the IFAW and the Smithsonian Institute.

In this artwork, I wish to show the value of relationship building between neighbours. Having good relationships with neighbours brightens up our life by bringing long term friendship, peacefulness and happiness.

We build good relationships with neighbours through sincere sharing, listening and helping each other. We create joyful and safe environments for the children to play and interact with each other. We keep an eye on neighbour's property when they are away from home, taking care of their pets and plants. In the end, everyone can enjoy the healthy community collaboratively built on trust and respect.

In Malaysia, having good relationships within a multicultural neighbourhood helps to further enhance the foundation of race relations and understanding. Living in such a healthy neighbourhood gives us a sense of who we are, both as an individual and as a member of the society.

Devil versus Angels

Malaysian Institute of Art, Kuala Lumpur

My artwork is about a battle between frontliners and Coronavirus. My concept for the artwork is about a devil that keeps attacking us and the angels are defending and challenging it non-stop to cure the patients. The artwork is to portray a terrible tension of the battle.

The artwork is to appreciate the dedication of frontliners such as doctor, nurse, police, etc., who are still working hard for us during this period. The frontliners show their teamwork spirits, responsibilities and professionalism by taking their positions seriously. Furthermore, the artwork also shows the determination and courageous of the frontliners to protect us from getting infected by working together as a team. Although they get injured and feel tired, they still try to do their best in saving people.

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. I wish that we can go through this hard period together by cooperating with each other. Besides the teamwork spirits of frontliners, as one of human beings, we should also bond our strengths together to kick out the intruder, the most horrendous disease in the world.Nothing can split us away.

Keep Fighting!

The top of the building is designed after the Maybank Tower as it’s try to capture the Maybank building feel. The building is separated into several parts to show different elements in it. The togetherness is shown in the groups of people doing their office work, people sharing meals at the cafeteria. The tiger behind the building is designed to bring out the Tiger elements of maybank.

The idea behind this single panel sequential art is that a lot of things that we see in our life, there are actually a system or company running behind. The TIGER values are actually the effort that a system or company implied in real life so that they are able to run smoothly. I used simple line and shapes to convey my ideas as i wanted to keep the visual clear enough to read.

To bring out the "Behind the Scenes" idea, i decided to draw a phone on top and the rest of the subject below. As nowadays, people usually consume information through smart phones. To futher elaborate my idea, I draw a lot of interactions and some stories here and there in different parts of the drawing. For example, there are a lot of meetings and discussion, indicating Teamworks and growth, technical support indicating Integrity, excellence and efficiency, building relationship during lunch and casual activities, trains coming in, which indicates the feedback of customer and trains going out indicates the informations that is send out to the outside world and so on. Everything and everyone plays a part in "Behind the Scenes" to ensure the system or company functioning properly.

I wanted to represent the Core Tiger Values in a more naturalistic way-- heavy symbolism eluding to a few of Maybank's values. With the Teamwork of people from different backgrounds, they're able to help the Tiger experience Growth, which is symbolised by the growing sproutlings as the children take care of it. And from growth, comes the strengthening of integrity, represented by the Gladiolus flower-- carrying the meaning of integrity.

They’re able to form a strong foundation because of these core values, working together to protect the tiger and help it prosper in its habitat, which highlighted the importance of relationship building between Maybank and its customers, just like the children with the Tiger.

Our Unsung Heroes

Southern University College, Johor Bahru

My inspiration for creating this painting came from this time COVID-19. Because of the epidemic situation, we can only remain at home. During Movement Control Order, I found many unsung heroes from the Internet, newspapers, and various news. These heroes reflected TEAMWORK, INTEGRITY, GROWTH, EXCELLENCE, EFFICIENCY and RELATIONSHIP BUILDING for this epidemic. Due to the appearance of these heroes, our country, our society, and our world have more color and love. I do not dare say that they are the greatest existence, but they are actually the hope of some people. I also understand that many things cannot be solved by one person.

We should face the problem together and solve the problem. Currently STAY AT HOME is my biggest responsibility, and I should make efforts to cooperate. Thank you very much for these heroes who warm us up. You as brave and valuable as tigers.

The idea behind this is that for a lot of things that we see on the surface, there is actually a system or company running behind or beneath. The TIGER values, in fact, are the operational philosophy behind one of the most successful business entities in the region. Simple lines and shapes are used to convey the idea and keep the visual clear and simple. I decided to draw a phone on top and the rest of the subject below, as people usually consume information from their smartphones. To further elaborate the idea, I put a lot of interactions and stories here and there in different parts of the drawing. For example, there are a lot of meetings and discussions, indicating Teamwork and Growth, technical support indicating Integrity, Excellence and Efficiency, Relationship-Building during lunch, trains coming in indicating feedback from customers and trains going out indicating information being sent out to the outside world, and so on. Everything and everyone has a role to play in Behind the Scenes to ensure that the system or the company is functioning properly.

This artwork is based on the Maybank’s core value growth. The artwork is more to a semi-abstract style. As in the artwork, the trees are grown from the tiger. The tiger at the middle symbolizes Maybank. The growing tree branches represent Maybank’s branches and their growth. It portrays Maybank branching into other things to help people grow. For example, they do charity works and campaigns to help others. The tree branches also connected to each other that give a meaning of unite and work together in a complete accord. The blossoming flowers illustrates the success of Maybank, which is blooming all the way. So, I decided to name it as ‘Blossoming’.

The tree also perfectly resembles Maybank at its core, that is to grow and provide, just like trees. The hummingbird represents the people who able to enjoy the offers given by Maybank.

The concept of complementary colors is used in this artwork, but in a softer way that creates an impact. The opposing colors also give stability.

The 2020 edition of Maybank MyTIGER Values Art Competition provided a unique experience for the jury. With the lockdown on movement imposed on the country from March to June due to the COVID19 pandemic, nearly all manner of human activity including art was disrupted. Nevertheless, the tour to the participating colleges and universities still went on during the competition period (February to June), even though it eventually had to go online and be done via virtual conferencing.

However, this only serves to exemplify the TIGER values even more. Resilient and unwavering in the face of challenge, the endeavour to nurture young talents among the art students of Malaysia was carried out to completion. Despite the lockdown and the slowdown, the jury was greeted with well over 400
entries from colleges and universities across the nation.

The entries for the Illustration Category received a wide range of interpretation, with technical skills worthy of note. Most opted to approach the competition brief zeroing on a single value, rather than addressing the five values as a whole. This actually allowed the contestants to elaborate on the chosen value. Perhaps they
have been studying past entries from the previous years, as this is the third edition of the competition. But this also comes with the risk of over-steering from the overall theme. The contestants, nonetheless, were well aware of the general ideas.

Some members of jury panel felt that while technical skills are never lacking in enthusiastic youths, more care should be taken on interpreting the design brief. Interesting choices from some of the contestants include hiding clues in their works, to allow for deeper engagement from audiences. The jury found that most of the time the artist statements provide a better insight on the intention of the artists. As the contestants are still new to the practice, it is not uncommon to find forced statements and rawbdescriptions. While this is understandable as they are students, the jury suggests that greater consideration be given to honing their communication skill so as to be able to describe their work more effectively and eloquently.

The category of Sequential Art, on the other hand, this time saw better entries than in the previous years. It was pleasing to see more ambitious entries that used conventional mediums and unconventional compositions and unorthodox use of comic design language. This category might well be the most interesting category in the competition, as serious competitions on sequential art are currently virtually non-existent. This will be a good expansion point for the competition in the future.

Non-conventional sequencing was seen in a significant number of entries. These entries were approaching on being standalone illustrations rather than being purely sequential. However this also made some see the works as monotonous. As sequential art, they are interesting. But if treated as illustration, then they might get lost in the shuffle. The contestant might need to consider focusing their attention on more significant design choices, according to their intended categories or implied messages.

Spirit Of Roar is a digital illustration medium that represent Relationship Buiding in one of the Tiger Values. I believed in the positive relationship between the people we work with that had been build from the beginning as we become stronger and always be there for one another. I love the beauty of lush green forest in a state of peacefulness . I thus re-project that feelings and create a characters of little girl embracing the king of forest which is the tiger. Soft green mix with blue are added as background colour represent tranquility between two sides of healthy relationship.

Community Engagement

Increase communities’ awareness and participation in anti-poaching initiatives.
Develop potential sustainable livelihood revenue generation model to reduce the community dependencies on natural resources from tiger habitat.

Since the inception of the programme, we have achieved so much in terms of preservation and conservation of tigers and impacted the wildlife surrounding and supporting them. As of 2019, the programme has already accomplished the following:

14,333 km of dense forest has been covered via foot patrol in the effort to protect not just tigers and their prey, but the ecosystem as a whole as well.
228 active wire snares have been found and deactivated, thereby potentially saving 228 large animals including tigers and their prey as they are essential to the equilibrium of the food chain.
834 old snares, 133 old mist nets, 41 hunting hides and 33 bullet shells were recorded and collected.
121 wildlife crime cases were reported to PERHILITAN, where 49 cases were acted upon.

Tigers are a national treasure, as well as the symbol of bravery and strength, the qualities that Maybank embraces in the creation of its T.I.G.E.R values. In collaboration with WWF Malaysia in its Strengthening Tiger Conservation in the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex programme, Maybank is one of Malaysia’s leading organisations that is spearheading the tiger conservation effort in the country. Maybank Foundation has pledged RM5 million over four years of the programme, which has commenced since 2016.

As the leading bank in Malaysia and one of the leaders in South East Asia, Maybank is committed towards fulfilling some of the objectives of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through its efforts with WWF Malaysia in conserving tigers in the Royal Belum Forest Complex, Maybank is helping to fulfil the SDG 15, which is to sustainably manage forests and halt biodiversity loss.

Three strategies have been developed to ensure the success of the programme:

Protection

Introduce SMART patrolling in Royal Belum State Park and Temengor Forest Reserve to ensure comprehensive protection of the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex.
Advocate for greater effectiveness in protecting Belum-Temengor Forest Complex by introducing the minimum protected area standards for tigers.

Monitoring

Monitor the population of Malayan tigers and their prey to evaluate if their numbers change through various non-invasive methods such as camera-trapping.
Improve knowledge on the tigers and their prey to better understand the best possible course of action.

The epidemic will never come to an end, if not all the countries stand together to fight and eradicate the spread of virus. It is when all the people and healthcare staffs from countries all over the world working together towards the one same aim, we could possibly expect a better outcome. It is when people work in cooperation and teamwork, putting everyone’s hope and efforts to a goal, we could eventually lead to success with effective and efficient work.

The relationship building can also take place as people are sharing the difficulties and hardships to overcome the struggle. Moreover, to support and encourage the frontline workers, the illustration was intended to spread a positive feeling in effort to successfully fight against the virus.

Excellence and efficiency. That’s what I want my piece to signify. Gold is more than a symbol of wealth; it’s the
symbol of hardship, strength, commitment, efficiency, and superiority. The tiger, a resilient creature built upon
experience, courage, willpower, and personal strength, will always strive to achieve greatness. The opaque background symbolizes professionalism, excellence, knowledge, stability, power, and luxury. This is what I see when I think of the value.

The tiger jumping to the moon and stars in a fluid motion; it shows off their commitment to delivering outstanding performance, majestic as it shows off their raw strength and superiority. The tiger’s mighty roar that could break the fabric of time or shake the soul of any beings; reminding everyone that it is a force to be undertaken reckoned with. Leaving a mark of gold on the ground, the tiger is leaving their tracks of success so it could inspire the younger generation to follow in its footstep to pursue higher than the moon.

One can help their parents out, do their own work or spend time doing healthy things which at the same is beneficial to fill their boredom. Besides that, this sort of thinking also improves the imagination and the creativity of one. Rather than wasting time and going against the mco’s law, it is better to stay at home spending time with family and find a hobby at home.

Game of MyTIGER Value

Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan, Kuala Lumpur

To be clearer and easier to illustrate Maybank's core principles, I created this artwork in a paper cutting style. If you look closely, each layer of the tiger presenting a different value of MyTiger. Together, they formed a T.I.G.E.R of Malaysia.

By decorating the frame with shapes of floral and fauna in the first few layers are to remind us the importance of forest conservation. Despite the large-scale development in the cities, let's not forget to protect the natural habitats of fauna and support tiger conservation issues.

The artwork has chosen to portray Teamwork. Teamwork is an attempt made by a group of people; which is shown through the tigers play harmoniously together. Each tiger dress and holds a different instrument to account for the people of Malaysia, which is Malay, Chinese, Indian, Sarawak and Sabah people. The gendang represents Malay, Xiao for Chinese people, Sompoton for Sabah and Sapeh for Sarawak. The pattern on the tiger is based on each ethnic pattern as well. Although all of them are different, this does not affect their working together as a team. Overall, the artwork depicted the teamwork in an imaginative way. When the team plays their instrument, the musical notes float down gently from the sky, lands and shine on the houses; representing Maybank give hope to people in their darkest days. As they continue to play through the night, more and more evergreen golden trumpet blooms continuously; signifying Maybank Malaysia’s making continuous effort in the society and economy.

This art piece tells a story about my childhood during my primary University years. There is plenty of races in our University, Kadazans, Malays, Chinese, Indians, etc. We could not communicate well due to our language barrier. Fortunately, there is a game that could bring us all together - football. As a kid, we used to watch one classic movie ‘Shaolin Soccer’ despite our races are different. It like an invisible forces connecting all of us together. Our relationship starts from that moment when we started talking about ‘Shaolin Soccer’. Players in the artwork interpret my young teammates and I, uniting as one force, whereas the tiger represents our strive and relationship bond. Football symbolizes the one youthful and dazzling goal that we were fighting to pursue when we were young. That is to become a national football player, to represent Malaysia as one skillful team.

There are many ways of traditional methods of expression long associated with art. Paper carving art is a series of complex steps created by combining or shaping different types of paper. It is also of contrasts of light to achieve a sense of volume in modeling with a twodimensional and three-dimensional.

The white symbolized purity, loyalty and cleanliness as I want to express that quality artwork, and the challenge of keeping them clean. White evokes images of a wonderful forest passing through a perspective or a composition with increased vitality and energy.

The title of this art paper sculpture is "The White Forest". No matter how real that can't be seen with the eyes. What was it just trying to express? You may think it makes a pretty good idea of what depression feels like.

It has a few of the two-dimensional and three-dimensional
effects of perspective and shading.

Foreword
HTMLText_EC24CB03_BEDC_1DF5_41D7_D34D9286A3F8.html =
The TIGER values (Teamwork, Integrity, Growth, Excellence & Efficiency, Relationship building) highlighted in the competition are still as important as ever, and the response of participants in interpreting these values in the current times are interesting indeed. The importance of humanistic values shined brightly among the works, which mirrored our solidarity and strength as a united Malaysia in the face of tough challenges. The symbolic strength of a tiger – a fitting symbol of strength and persistence – was reflected beautifully.

With all the resolutions and facilities put in place, Maybank sincerely hoped that we could provide and pave the way towards the healing process and the on-going push for growth. This competition is but a small yet meaningful measure in providing support for our youngsters and our future. These forces of the youth would be filling the shoes on the coming effort of nation building, as the storm calms and the tempest wanes. Salutations and respect are well in order to those who have made this effort possible. May we all be blessed with further prosperity and growth for the years to come.

As the current year reached its halfway line, the global conscience and the art world in general took a long look on our previous efforts and how far we have come in terms of supporting and cultivating local arts. We now found ourselves humbled by the sheer amount of effort that we have yet to climb in order to groom our youngsters and its budding talents for the best possible future.

Our annual effort on cultivating arts among the young talents of higher education took a different turn on this year of 2020, as the global pandemic hit our shores. Nevertheless, this centennial world changing event did little in deterring our effort to muscle on and provide the possible best. In compliance with the Movement Control Order (MCO), the effort focused on adaptation by implementing the latest conference tech to keep our communities connected and well informed. The usual tour through educational institutions transitioned to virtual spaces, with the organisers as well as the participants learning together on how to maintain a strong voice and will, in order to keep the morals high and the arts going.

Maybank as a supporting institution provided the best support possible in addressing the worrying future of our would-be art graduates, by easing their concerns about the uncertain prospect of arts in the coming years. It is thus understood that our annual efforts of art competition is now more important than ever: we tried to provide a platform and the opportunity to address the group that may have been slipping through the cracks in terms of career support, in light of the more pressing issues and concerns at hand. Our efforts in providing support is consistent and unwaning throughout the years.
